A couple of years ago, I came across this adorable amigurumi book, Mabel Bunny & Co, by Claire Gelder. I fell in love with her cute critters. Mabel Bunny & Co was one of my first amigurumi books. I had just learned how to crochet and was very excited to try the patterns from the book.
So, when I learned that Claire Gelder was releasing her third amigurumi book, Bonnie The Cow & Friends, in April of 2022, I was excited to get my hands on a copy of the book.
After making a few of her beautiful designs, I thought it would be fun to write a review on Claire Gelder’s latest amigurumi book, Bonnie The Cow & Freinds.
One of the things that I love about Claire Gelder’s books is how detailed the pictures are. For example, the technique section contains twenty-four pages of step-by-step instructions with clear photos of how to make a slip knot and crochet a picot stitch.
Having such detail in the technique section helps in having an easier time creating the animals.
Bonnie The Cow & Friends book includes twenty beautiful patterns to crochet. Most animals in the book are crocheted using a super chunky (super bulky) wool yarn and measuring between 15-20 inches in size.
All of the baby animal patterns use a DK (light worsted) weight merino acrylic blend yarn. The mini animals measure between 9-11 inches in size.
This book includes a variety of original patterns, from cats and dogs to birds and frogs.
Another thing I enjoy about this book is that all the patterns are great for building your amigurumi skills. I like crochet books that help to improve my crocheting skills.
In this book, you have patterns where you’ll need to change yarn colors. You’ll also learn how to crochet the loop stitch, picot, and bobble stitch.
Bonnie The Cow & Friends book might seem a little advanced to new amigurumi makers, but with all of the step-by-step pictures and details, you shouldn’t have a problem with the patterns in this book.
Bonnie The Cow & Friends amigurumi book is definitely worth checking out. I’m genuinely a fan of Claire Gelder’s designs. Her animals are easy and fun to recreate.

Please comment if you have this book or are considering checking it out. I would love to hear your thoughts on the book.
Happy Crocheting Journey!
