What can I say about Knotted Loveys by Mama Made Minis? They are super cute and a lot of fun to make.
Knotted Loveys is the latest book release by author and designer sisters Alyson Dratch and Lindsay Mcnutt. These two sisters own the Etsy shop and website Mama Made Minis.
About the Authors
Mama Made Minis started with the two sisters’ dream of creating something special together. Having been knitters, not crocheters, Alyson and Lindsay had to teach themselves to crochet. The vision of knotted loveys came about when Lindsay was expecting and wanted a lovey for her newborn daughter. Unable to find the right lovey, the two sisters had the vision to design their own handmade lovey.
What are Knotted Loveys?
Unlike some crochet loveys, which have more of a granny square or blanket look, these knotted loveys have an unstuffed body, giving them the appearance of a blanket and a stuffed toy.
The animals in this book are all made with a super bulky weight/ category six chenille yarn. With their knotted legs, these loveys are soft and snuggly to hold.
Alyson and Lindsay created each animal to blend an heirloom look with a modern, minimalist crochet style.
Let’s Talk About the Book
Knotted Loveys is filled with sixteen adorable patterns. Each section is divided into four animal categories: fantastic, farm, wild, and woodland. The book includes 141 pages of colorful patterns, tips, and step-by-step instructions to help you make your knotted lovey.
The overall patterns are very similar, with some minor changes. In most cases, you’ll start by crocheting the animal’s head and then crocheting the body off the head.
Some of the patterns require minor sewing to slightly more sewing. Many patterns will also require minimal color changes to increasingly changing colors.
Each pattern lists materials, abbreviations, finished size, special stitches, and required sewing. The book has step-by-step photos to help you create your knotted toy.
Each pattern is easy to read and follow along. If you are familiar with crocheting amigurumi, you should have no problem recreating these adorable little knotted toys.
My Overall Thoughts
I love this book! I’ve made four of the animals so far for friends as gifts. I’ve mostly worked with acrylic or cotton as a crocheter when making amigurumi toys. But I see the appeal after buying this book and using blanket yarn for the animals.
The designs are great for every level of amigurumi crocheter. The patterns are easy to understand and follow along. Plus, they are just too cute for words.
I would highly recommend giving this book a try.
I hope you can check out this adorable book by Mama Made Minis. For more knotted lovey patterns, check out their Etsy shop and website.
Happy Crocheting Journey!
